Puppy Chow

Apparently a Midwest staple, puppy chow is a homey dessert that you won’t be able to stop eating once you start!

Prep Time: 20 Minutes | Cook Time: 2-3 Minutes | Total Time: 22-23 Minutes

Special Equipment

  • 1 large Mixing Bowl

  • 1 microwave safe bowl (large)

  • 1 rubber spatula

Ingredients (US Standard)

  • 1cup Semisweet Chocolate Chips

  • 1 cup Peanut Butter, creamy

  • 6 cups Chex Cereal

  • 1 cup Powdered Confectioner's Sugar

Ingredients (Metric)

  • 170g Semisweet Chocolate Chips

  • 250g Peanut Butter, creamy

  • 180g Chex Cereal

  • 100g Powdered Confectioner's Sugar

Method

  1. Place chocolate chips and peanut butter in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave in 30 second increments, stirring in between. Continue until consistency starting to melt, but not completely runny.

  2. Allow the bowl to cool for about 5 minutes, but do not allow it to harden again.

  3. Place the chex cereal in a large serving bowl. Pour the chocolate and peanut butter mixture on top, and add about 1/4th of the powdered sugar. Stir with a rubber spatula to combine, being careful not to break the cereal.

  4. Allow it to cool for about 15 minutes.

  5. Pour remaining powdered sugar on top, using rubber spatula to gently combine again.

  6. Keep leftovers in the refrigerator.
